Chatham's finest export!

Currently studying Marine Environmental Science here at Pompey. Apart from diving I'm a bit of an adventure racing nut and I also enjoy getting bashed about doing martial arts. On an official note... moi is a PADI Divemaster with over 300 logged dives in most conditions and places you can think of (yes, I have even done it in my bath tub!). I'm quite into the DIR style of diving. So plenty of black, stainless steel, frog kicking and a 7ft reg hose!
Dislikes include; that shot called 'flat liner' I think it was, which made me cry! Dentists and twiglets, urrgh!

Fancy coming diving, learning to dive or simply coming out on the razz with a great group of people who are like an extended family? Get in touch!

Rave on!
Kelvin Lam - Vice President

Hi, I’m Kelvin, this year’s Vice President. Currently I’m going into my second year studying Civil Engineering.

Diving has always being something I wanted to try but never got round to. Coming to Uni was the ideal opportunity to give it a go and with the option of combining it with my course there was no excuse not to. I’m currently a PADI Advanced Open Water diver with the aim of completing the Rescue Diver course before the year is out!

Having only started diving at the end of last year I have only dived in the UK, but it's still been awesome, especially diving in a wetsuit during winter!

Joining PUD is the best way to learn to dive and to continue to dive, as well as giving you the opportunity to meet a bunch of great people.
Bruce Collier - Diving Coordinator

Hiya, I am currently in my third year of Computer Engineering which is great fun if not a little geeky. I have been in the water since I can remember and been diving (officially) since I was 12.

I have been teaching scuba for about 3 years now and am loving it; if you want do a course just let me know and I'll see what I can do. I have dived all over the world from Egypt to Mexico to Oz and I plan on going to many more places, hopefully with some of you guys.

P.S. Expect to see me wearing something crazy as I love my novelty hats!

Dave Rous - Treasurer

Heya, I'm Dave (aka 'John Smith') and I'm this year's Treasurer. A boring job I know, but someone has to do it! I am currently in my final year studying for a Masters in Civil Engineering.

I learnt to dive here in Pompey and haven't stopped since. I am currently a PADI Divemaster and have dived in many many places, including Egypt.

Wreck diving is where it's at for me so if you fancy going diving join the club and get in touch.

Dave
Louise O'Connor - Club Sec

Hey, I'm Lou and im this years Club Secretary. I am in my second year of a Forensic Biology degree which is really cool albeit a bit nerdy :)

I am currently a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver, I learnt to dive in the Maldives on holiday when I was 15 and been diving ever since.I have been fortunate enough to dive in some really awesome places like New Zealand and Thailand... oh and of course sunny old England, mainly the Dorset coast and places around Portsmouth.

Dan Backhurst - Kit Sec

Hi, I'm Dan, one of the two Kit Secs this year. I'm currently studying my final year of Civil Engineering.

I am currently an PADI Open Water diver and have been diving for 2 years; and I've loved every dive. I have also picked up a Scientific Diving Techniques speciality and would advise it to anyone who has the option to do it in their 2nd or 3rd year as it is great fun constructing and surveying stuff underwater.

Unfortunatly I have only dived in the UK; although it is great and there is loads to see I think I may be pushing the club to go somewhere warm and clear for a week so the more the merrier... and cheaper.
Owen Flowers - Kit Sec

Hi, I'm Owen and I am this years Kit Secretary (one of two, anyway). I am studying an MEng in Civil Engineering and I'm currently on placement between my 3rd and 4th years.

I first learnt to dive in 2004 whilst on holiday in Malaysia and then picked up diving again when I came to university and did some diving courses for credits. I will very soon be a fully fledged PADI Divemaster and have a few interesting dives in my log. I am another big fan of wreck diving so anyone who is willing should make themselves known.

I have been known to be a bit of a social handgrenade so watch out for me on the socials!

Owen
Simon Weald - IT Guru

Hi guys, I'm Simon and I'm this year's IT 'Expert' as it were, which means I'm responsible for the current design of this website. I'm in my last year at Pompey studying Computer Network Management and Design, not the easiest degree ever!

I'm currently only an Open Water diver, although I'm looking to do my Advanced OW over the summer and quite possibly do the Rescue Diver course at some point in the near future. Outside of diving I'm really into sailing and I've been teaching it for a few years now.

That'll do from me, hope to see you guys on various dives/socials during the year! If you've got any problems with the website or you've thought of something that should be on the site, don't hesitate to contact me.

Simon
